La Societe des 40 Hommes et 8 Chevaux Athens County Voiture #775 408 Scholarship
The Soceite des 40 Hommes et 8 Chevaux, or Forty and Eight (40/8), is an honor society formed by American Legionnaires in 1920 to recognize wartime veterans. The Society has a history of supporting charitable causes. In 1955, the Society adopted a program to provide scholarships in the face of the nursing shortage that existed at that time.
In keeping with that tradition, the Athens County Voiture #775 408 established a scholarship fund to provide assistance to Hocking College nursing students.
Eligibility is extended to students who have completed the practical nursing program and who are enrolled in the registered nursing program and who are not eligible for Pell funding but demonstrate financial need.
