David S. Fraedrich Memorial Scholarship
“David Fraedrich was a resident and avid supporter of Nelsonville, Ohio and the surrounding community. Upon graduating from Miami University in 1971 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, David joined the Rocky Shoe and Boot Corporation in Nelsonville. He held a number of positions during his tenure at Rocky and served as executive vice president, chief financial officer and treasurer. He also served as chairman of the Board of Trustees of Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville, served on the board of the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville, and was a past member of Nelsonville City Council, Rotary Club and the 317 Board. David participated and led many fundraisers for local institutions, such as Doctors Hospital of Nelsonville and the Boy Scouts of America. David passed away in 2003.
In celebration of David’s life and in honor of his countless contributions and spirit of community service, the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation of Nelsonville, in conjunction with the Hocking College School of Nursing, established the David S. Fraedrich Memorial Scholarship. Scholarship funds are awarded annually to residents of Athens or Hocking counties who are enrolled in the nursing program at Hocking College. Special consideration is given to students who are graduates of Nelsonville-York City Schools.
Deserving students will be selected to receive a scholarship award between $1,000 and $2,000 to be used as payment toward tuition, required text books or lab fees."
